About Airpelago

At Airpelago, we are pioneering the inspection of power grids with drones. We combine modern drone technology, proprietary software, and expertise in drone regulations, to help grid owners inspect and get insights about their assets, which our society is dependent on. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a driven and vision-oriented Product Owner for Data Collection to lead our data collection strategy, bridge technical innovation with operational reality, and drive tangible business value. In this role, you will also be responsible for our R&D related to our data collection services.

About the Role

This is a new role at Airpelago, giving you the unique opportunity to shape and define it from the ground up. In your capacity as Product Owner for Data Collection, you will own the end-to-end roadmap for how Airpelago captures high-quality aerial data.

You will serve as the crucial link between cutting-edge technology, operational compliance, customer expectations, and sales goals. In this international role, you will work across national borders and cross-functionally within the company to drive our global data collection strategy.

You will not only lead research and testing for next-generation data collection solutions, but also ensure that validated technologies are seamlessly standardized and deployed across our day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

We believe in keeping things focused. Your core responsibilities will revolve around:

• Product Strategy & Commercial Alignment: Own the product backlog and evaluate technical choices through a strong commercial lens (e.g., ROI, cost vs. benefit).

• Research & Field Testing: Evaluate and test emerging hardware, sensor technologies (e.g., LiDAR, thermal), and software integrations to ensure scalability and reliability.

• Standardization & Compliance: Turn successful concepts into standardized operational solutions (SOPs) that strictly adhere to regulatory permits (SORA, EASA).

• Cross-Border Stakeholder Management: Act as the central bridge between international clients, sales, software engineering, and field operations to align capabilities with market needs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Background: Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in product management, technical product ownership, or R&D leadership, preferably within aviation, drones (UAS/UAV), remote sensing, or hardware-software integration.

• Technical Mindset: Hands-on experience with systematic testing methodologies, data acquisition technology, and sensor evaluation.

• Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to assess technical solutions based on business viability, customer needs, and operational efficiency.

• Regulatory Familiarity: Understanding of drone regulations, or safety-critical field operations is a strong plus.

• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Swedish. Ability to translate complex technical specs into clear business impact.
